This card was inspired by the California Poppies that are all over my property this time of year. There are also little yellow flowers and purple ones. Now that I think about it, I should have added some purple flowers to this card. Hmmm. Maybe I'll have to make another one.
I've been wanting to make a card using some of the color combinations I see in nature. Afterall, who's a better artist than God? No one of coarse. Anyway, this is the first one I've tried. I also wanted to try a couple techniques I've learned. Hope you like it.
The background paper was made by daubing Stampin Pastels all over the Whisper White cardstock (cut at 4" x 5-1/2"), and then using the channel on the cutter to erase diagonal lines. The result is a diamond shaped pattern. The three pastels used for this were; Summer Sun (or was it Yoyo yellow?), Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie.
The image was stamped in Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Mellow Moss, So Safron (would have preferred one of the other yellows, but I don't have them at this time) Classic inks, and Pumkin Pie Stampin Write marker.
Using the Stampin Write Pumpkin Pie marker the large flower's outline was stamped once, directly onto the 3-1/4" x 4" Whisper White cardstock. Image was stamped again onto a scrap of Ww cardstock, using the two step method with the same marker. I cut it out and added some Iridescent Ice (mistaking it for glitter), using the Tombo adhesive. Realizing my goof I added a little heat to it to see what would happen. Lol! I told my upline that only she and I would know that I made the mistake and here I am telling you all about it. Lastly, I placed it onto the outline image with a couple of Stampin dimensionals, and added the sentiment with Chocalate Chip Classic ink and stamp from the Always stamp set. Oh yeah, I also chalked the 3-1/4" x 4" cardstock with Pumkin Pie Stampin Pastel (probably should have done both layers).
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to visit. Hope you are enjoying this journey with me.
